The High Center of Gravity (CG) Battery tray allows the battery to be located high above the chassis. This significantly increases the weight shift of the car and makes for a more realistic body roll during transitions. The grip of the car can also be increased with tuning of the suspension geometry, dampers and springs. The High CG Battery tray allows the battery to be mounted both horizontally or vertically with the chassis. The High CG Battery tray is designed to work with all the Bingo Wasp chassis, Wasp RDX battery cage as well as the stock RDX battery cage. With the included 25mm extensions added to the 40mm risers, the High CG Battery tray can be used with Yokomo YD2/RD2.0 and MST RMX setups, when using the Bingo Wasp MAX chassis. Note the High CG Battery Tray requires that the motor be mounted in the high CG position. If the motor is in the low position, it blocks the mounting holes. The kit has been updated to support both shorty thin batteries (19mm) and shorty thick batteries (25mm).
Start by assembling the battery end plates. The end plates use 2 x 9mm spacers, 2 x M3x18 BHS, 2 x lock nuts, 2 end plates and 2 lock tabs. *Update: 2 x M3x25 BHS and 2 x 15mm spacers are included now.
Install lock tabs as shown. Slide the lock tab onto the M3x18 BHS, followed by the 9mm spacer, then the end plate and lock nut. Lightly tighten the lock nut, then back out enough to allow the lock tab to turn with a bit of friction grip. You can swap out the 9mm spacer and 18mm BHS with the 15mm spacer and 25mm BHS if you want to use thick shorty batteries (<25mm thick)
The end plates are mounted to the battery tray using 4 x 8mm standoffs and 4 x M3x6 BHS.
Loosely attach the 4 x 8mm standoffs to the end plates as shown, using the 4 x M3x6 button head screws.
Attach the end plates to the battery plate using the 4 x M3x6 flat head screws.
The battery can be mounted horizontally using the mount holes as indicated.
The battery can be mounted vertically using the mount holes as indicated.
Attach the end plates to the battery plate using the 4 x M3x6 flat head screws. Tighten the flat head screws.
The battery tray is supported by 4 x 40mm standoffs, using 4 x M4x8 FHS. They are attached at the locations indicated.
Attach the 40mm risers to the tray using the 4 x M3x8 flat head screws. Tighten down the screws.
The high CG battery tray will be mounted on the RDX battery cage using these attachment points (two on each side)
It is easier to attach the battery tray by using a hex tool (2mm) through the bottom of the chassis. Both the stock RDX chassis and the the Bingo Wasp MAX chassis have holes that align with the mount points.
Lightly attach all for risers using the 4 x M3x10 BHS before tightening all of the screws.
With the High CG Battery tray, the ESC or receiver can be mounted underneath, if desired.
To make full use of the high CG battery tray weight shift, it may be necessary to adjust the shock, springs, and rear wheel geometry to lower the roll center of the chassis. Experiment to see what results in the best performance for your driving style!
