Wasp MST RMX AWB Chassis

The Bingo Wasp RMX AWB Chassis is designed as an upgrade for the MST RMX 2.0/2.5/M drift car chassis. The new AWB Chassis (adjustable wheelbase) allows a larger variety of bodies to be used on the chassis.

The AWB supports a wheelbase of 225mm-274mm, and with the optional Xtra Long slide plate, you can go up to a wheelbase of 324mm! The Bingo Wasp RMX AWB chassis also brings significant weight reduction which will make the car feel much quicker. It also can increase the flex and grip of the car. There is also an additional battery placement option, allowing the battery to be moved further back for more traction.

Wasp MST RMX AWB Chassis Instructions

1. Upper Brace Assembly

Please see the MST RMX chassis install for an overview of the basic chassis conversion. The MST RMX AWB install is similar, but the upper brace and main chassis deck are made with multiple sections. Each side of the AWB brace is made up of 3 pieces, front plate, middle slide plate, and back plate. Note the orientation of the pieces in the picture. The M3 press nuts should be on the inside of the brace.

2. Assemble one side first

Assemble one side first, using 4 of the M3x8 FHS screws as shown.

3. Add standoffs

Loosely attach the 4 x 10mm standoffs.

4. Attach other side

Attach the brace parts from the other side and loosely tighten the screws.

5. Attach upper brace to front

Attach the upper brace to the front bulkhead using the existing screws that were holding the stock brace. The AWB has M3 press nuts embedded in the carbon fiber (no longer requiring  M3 lock nuts).

6. Attached upper brace to gearbox support

Attach upper brace to the gearbox mount using the stock screws. The 4 screws should go into the AWB upper brace  M3 press nuts.

7. Alternatively use brace extensions

Alternatively you can remove the gearbox mount and use the brace extensions to attach the upper brace directly to the gearbox.  The brace extensions allow the motor to be mounted high, and the battery can be moved rearward.

8. Brace extensions

The 30mm screw will go into a press nut on the left side extension. For the longer 40mm screw, use the 3mm spacer on the head and then put the .5mm and 9mm spacer on the left side, between the gearbox and the motor plate. Note it will be easier to install the .5mm and 9mm  spacers if you loosen the motor plate screws to provide ample space for installation, then tighten down the motor plate and gearbox screws.

9. Adjust chassis length

The chassis length can be adjusted by loosening the 4 screws on the upper stay, and the two screws on the rear plate, attached to the slide plate.

Adjust to the desired length then tighten all the screws on the upper brace and rear plate. Make sure the front and rear plates are aligned and straight. Also make sure the front and rear plates are level when tightening the upper stay.

Steering Servo Positions

Transverse Servo

The Wasp RMX AWB chassis supports 3 different steering servo locations. You can mount a server transverse to the chassis (e.g. RMX 2.0)

Front Inline Servo

The steering servo can be mounted inline with the chassis, on the front plate (e.g. RMX-M)

Mid Inline Servo Spacer Plate

The servo can be mounted mid chassis. To support this there is a servo spacer plate included. This will allow the servo to be mounted on the slide plate.

Mid Inline Servo

The mid inline servo placement is typically found on the RMX 2.5.

Optional Xtra Long Slide Plate

1. Xtra Long Slide Plate

The Xtra Long Slide plate is an optional accessor that allows the Wasp RMX AWB chassis to extend to wheelbases beyond 274mm. Kyosho Fazer bodies typically use a 274mm wheelbase. Traxxas 4-Tec bodies range from 288mm to 300mm. An extreme setup is using a Hot Wheels cybertruck body which uses a 324mm wheelbase!

2. Xtra Long wheelbase, 324mm

This shows the Xtra Long Slide Plate at it's maximum length.
